About

It started with building a house. I had been out of the Navy barely a month, and dove into a project that would shape the development of, and eventually answer the question: what’s next? While building my house, I developed an appreciation for plans, systems, and the ability to create with various materials. Design, for me, is a continuation of this process that I grew so fond of while building my home.

I also enjoy honing a creative process outside of design. I'm continuously working to gain knowledge about a variety of skills, and I appreciate the ability to "figure stuff out". Everything from rebuilding and fixing cars, motorcycles and engines, to fixing espresso machines or learning the slow craft of foraging, hunting or fishing. This constant curiosity provides me with engagement and a variety of insights into creative problem solving.

That said, I am most passionate about traveling. I began to travel young. As soon as I deployed with the Navy. This initial immersion in other places, cultures, and spaces sparked an interest that I continue to cultivate—I have since visited some fifteen countries. Because of these experiences, I aim to solve problems from a global perspective, and to see things beyond the region I call home. The influence I've gained from traveling is a motivation and challenges me to strive to learn from perspectives other than what I’m familiar with.
